World Builders YEG Registration

Welcome to the World Builders YEG Player Registration page! All games and times are listed below; once you’ve had a chance to read over the descriptions you can sign up through our Google Form (opens a new tab). All seats are $5 (which we’ll collect from you on the day) so if you plan to play in both the morning and afternoon your total will be $10, with all proceeds going to support our charity, Nekem.

During your session you have the opportunity to buy boons for yourself or others at the table. These cost $1 and there is no limit to how many you can purchase. These boons allow you bonuses and perks in your session, to be discussed with your GM. Drop your loonie in the boon bucket and enjoy!

In addition to the games there will also be a silent auction of donated items: rare indie games, hardcover rulebooks, and the like. You can bid on them, and payment for your winning bid can be made to the store, so you can use cash/debit/CC. Bidding will close at 5pm. If you have to leave before then you’ll be contacted if you have the winning bid; your item(s) will be available for pick-up at Pe Metawe until the end of November.

Important: This is a masked event. While we can’t control which customers mask when they come into the store, in order to play you must wear an N- or KN-95 mask. We’ll have new masks on-hand if you don’t have one of your own. By registering for the event you agree to this masking policy.

If you have any questions about the games or the event, please email Brent at brent.jans@gmail.com. Happy gaming!

Morning Sessions

Table One: Shadowdark: The Wavestone Monolith: 10:30-12:30

A monolith of black basalt floats upon an undulating lake hidden in a cave. They say inhuman howls emanate from it on moonless nights… and that the sparkling gems and coins of a foul ghost lie inside for the taking!

Shadowdark takes the expectations of modern D&D and uses them to recreate what D&D was like 50 years ago, without all the weirdness and cruft. Come for a fast-paced experience of old-school dungeon delving without all of the baggage. Setting: Dungeon delve for treasure.

Adventure may include character death (another will be provided if that happens).

Adventure will not include any of the following: sexual themes, non-consensual sexual contact or harassment, player-initiated torture, player-initiated racism, character-versus-character combat or theft, violence toward domestic animals, violence toward children, misogyny, transphobia, or homophobia.

During this adventure, at any time, a player or the GM can say “pause for a minute” to stop the current conversation, break character, and address the situation. This can be used for anything from “I really don’t like this thing in the game” to “I don’t understand where we’re going”. Use it freely to clarify the direction of the game and address any concerns.

Table Two: Monster of the Week: Wilde Jagd: 10:30-2:30

The veil grows thin between worlds as Halloween approaches for the small lumber town of Jason, AB. The local teens are planning a holiday bash in the abandoned logging camp in the nearby woods, and it promises to be a night to remember.

This mystery is inspired by legends of the Wild Hunt from old Germanic folklore, and uses homebrew mechanics to simulate a magic forest that actively tries to thwart navigation. New Player Friendly!

Monster of the Week is a supernatural mystery game inspired by such properties as Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the X-files. The game deals with subject matter that is spooky and dangerous, but the general tone of the game is campy. The setting is an alternate Earth where magic and monsters are real, and my particular adventure is set in a fictional small Albertan town during a nebulous mid-2000s era before cell phones and internet were extremely accessible. This adventure involves ghosts, pagan gods, potential harm to teens (age 16-18), and underage drinking (that last part can be edited out if it proves to make people too uncomfortable).

Table Three: Creature Comforts: 10:30-12:30

Creature Comforts is a cozy board game where players take the role of critters preparing for winter. This is not an rpg, but imagination is welcome.

Cozy, family friendly. New Player Friendly!

Afternoon Sessions

Table One: Pico: Pico Postal Service: 1:30-4:30

A bug-ly adventuring party delves into the Hogwild to deliver a mysterious package!

A lighthearted and fantastical game about little bugs on big adventures in a post human world. Content warning for bugs?

D6 system (Will need at most 6 dice, I will have extras), BitD adjacent, Pregen characters, New GM to this system.

Table Two: Blazing Hymn: Deliver Us: 3:30-5:30

When the Great Lakes Onsite Response Infantry receives a shipment of Angel Scraps and other important mech parts from their partner agency in Detroit, Team A is called in to supervise the arrival in case something goes horribly wrong.

I’m sorry you had to learn it this way, but something is going to go horribly wrong.

Set in a future where the armies of Heaven have descended to wipe out humanity, Blazing Hymn tells the story of Hymnal Pilots, young musicians whose voices can power the anti-Angel battlesuits that may be humanity’s last hope. Featuring fast-paced, tactical combat, Blazing Hymn is a musical slugfest that anyone can learn quickly! Content warnings for apocalyptic themes, blasphemy, and potential civilian casualties.

It’s friendly for new players, easy to understand. I’ll be bringing everything, but if you want to bring your own token or mini, or if you’re familiar with Blazing Hymn and want to bring your own character, go for it!

Table Three: When the Wolf Comes: Echoes of the Ozymandias 1:30-4:30

When the Wolf Comes is based on Shadow of the Demon Lord d20 system. This game will light hearted, a little space horror/aliens and Vikings in space. New player friendly, pre-made character sheets will be provided, players will need a d20 and 1-3 d6 (available at registration).

You can sign up for any of the above using the Player Registration Google Form (opens a new tab).
